About Us

Jonathan R. Grammer is a trial attorney, landman and founder of Grammer Land & Exploration, with offices in Amarillo and Austin, Texas. Mr. Grammer has represented independent oil and gas companies as both a landman and attorney in seven states in nearly six dozen lawsuits, effectuated over half a million acres of producing and non-producing transactions and partnership formations for both independents and majors and has made jury arguments and been a featured lecturer on oil and gas in Texas, Oklahoma, California, Illinois, North Carolina and Washington, D.C. He serves on the Law Committee for the IPAA, the Board of Directors for the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers, the Board of Directors for the Federal Bar Association’s Division on both Energy and Natural Resources and Federal Litigation, and has served on the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Global Energy and Oil. Mr. Grammer is a Fellow of both the Austin Bar Association and the Oklahoma Bar Foundation. He currently serves as President of the Panhandle Association of Petroleum Landmen and also serves on the Panhandle Producers and Royalty Owners Association’s Legislative Committee. His credentials include committee appointments to the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Title Examination Standards Committee, The Texas Trial Lawyer’s Association, the American Association of Professional Landmen, TIPRO and has been published extensively in the areas of energy law, oil and gas exploration and energy development on a national level.

 

Mr. Grammer has practiced both trial and appellate law before the United States Supreme Court, The Supreme Court of Oklahoma, the United States District Courts for Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Arkansas and Nebraska and before the United States Courts of Appeals for the 5th, 6th, 8th, 9th and 10th Circuits.

 

As a trial attorney, Mr. Grammer litigated matters ranging from complex energy and corporate cases to business and commercial contracts disputes. Now he has devoted his legal experience to providing legal, acquisition and consulting services exclusively to independent operators in oil and gas development. GL&E provides services in the areas of joint operating agreements, farmout agreements, title analysis and opinions, lease acquisition, surface damage litigation, division orders, drilling title opinions and corporate contract and partnership formation. GL&E also consults on matters involving the Texas Railroad Commission, Oklahoma Corporation Commission, the Texas Legislature and the Public Utility Commission.
